Chesney gets top country award but criticizes vote

LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Kenny Chesney south Korean won entertainer of the
year for the fourth straight time at the 43rd Annual Academy of
Rural area Music Awards on Sun -- only said backstage that
organizers had devalued the top prize by fashioning it a
"sweepstakes" up for voter turnout on the Net.
Carrie Underbrush was named top female vocaliser for the
second year in a row and 18-year-old Taylor Western fence lizard, country
music's hottest young star topology, snagged her low award and stole
the picture at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with a
wardrobe-changing, water-drenched public presentation.
This year marked the number one that the academy let fans choose
the top entertainer accolade -- reflecting the "American Idol" geological era
of entertainment -- and Chesney took military issue with that make a motion.
"I don't think it's right that they picked the ace accolade
that substance the nigh, that whole artists sacrificed the most for,
and turned it into ... a sweepstakes, to visual perception wHO can buoy labour
people's buttons the hardest on the Net," Chesney said.
"It's a make out disrespect of the artists. I opine because
of that it really diminishes the integrity of the work."
Chesney, whose quarter acquire in the top category tied him with
best-selling country creative person Garth Van Wyck Brooks, was careful to say he
wasn't criticizing fans and was appreciative of the honorary society,
even if he took issue with the Web voter turnout.
"It's non tainted in any way and I'm proud to order I'm sledding
pop in the history books with Garth Brooks simply you've got to
allow, it's a different award," he said.
Underbrush, an "American God" winner wHO has go one of
commonwealth music's best-selling artists, opened the usher with her
latest unity, "Last Name," and later joined upside male vocalist
victor Brad Paisley in a testimonial to fable Twist Arnold.
